Overview
Enhance your brand’s professionalism by hosting your UptimeObserver status page on your own domain (e.g., status.yourcompany.com). This allows your users to check your system's health under a URL they already trust.
Note
Custom Domain for Status Pages is offered exclusively on paid plans.
Prerequisites
- Access to your domain’s DNS management console (e.g., Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap).
- A paid UptimeObserver account.
Configuration Steps
To set up your custom domain, follow these four steps:
- Navigate to Status Page Creation: Log in to your dashboard and go to the status page creation section: https://app.uptimeobserver.com/sharing/create-statuspage
- Set Your Custom Domain: In the configuration settings, locate the Custom Domain field. Enter the full domain or subdomain you wish to use (e.g., status.yourdomain.com)
- Update Your DNS Records (CNAME): You must point your custom domain to our servers so we can serve your status page. Access your DNS provider and create a new CNAME record with the following details:
- Type: CNAME
- Name/Host: Your subdomain (e.g., status)
- Target/Value: status.uptimeobserver.com.
- Enable Redirection: Once you have created the DNS record, you must finalize the activation. Send a request to our support team at support@uptimeobserver.com including your Status Page ID. Our team will manually enable the redirection and verify the SSL certificate for your domain.
Note
DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours to propagate globally.
Verifying Your DNS Configuration
Before contacting support, it's helpful to verify that your DNS records have been configured correctly and have propagated. This can help you diagnose any issues during the DNS propagation period mentioned above. You can use command-line tools to check if your CNAME record is properly pointing to status.uptimeobserver.com.
For macOS/Linux Users
Use the dig command to query your DNS records. You can use either format:
Basic query:
dig status.yourdomain.com
Expected output:
; <<>> DiG 9.10.6 <<>> status.yourdomain.com
;; global options: +cmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 12345
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 1
;; QUESTION SECTION:
;status.yourdomain.com. IN A
;; ANSWER SECTION:

status.uptimeobserver.com. 300 IN A 203.0.113.10
;; Query time: 45 msec
;; SERVER: 8.8.8.8#53(8.8.8.8)
;; WHEN: Fri Jan 31 10:30:00 PST 2026
;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 95
CNAME-specific query (shorter output):
dig status.yourdomain.com CNAME +short
Expected output:
status.uptimeobserver.com.
For Windows Users
Use the nslookup command to query your DNS records:
nslookup status.yourdomain.com
Expected output:
Server: dns.google
Address: 8.8.8.8
Non-authoritative answer:
status.yourdomain.com canonical name = status.uptimeobserver.com
Name: status.uptimeobserver.com
Address: 203.0.113.10
Interpreting Results
✓ Successful Configuration:
- The output shows your domain (e.g.,
status.yourdomain.com) pointing tostatus.uptimeobserver.com. - This confirms your CNAME record is correctly configured and has propagated
✗ Not Yet Propagated:
- You see an error like
NXDOMAINorserver can't find status.yourdomain.com - The CNAME doesn't point to
status.uptimeobserver.com. - This means either the DNS record hasn't been created yet, or it hasn't propagated to all DNS servers
DNS Propagation Timing
If your DNS records aren't showing up yet, wait a few hours and try again. DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours. Once you confirm the CNAME is correctly pointing to status.uptimeobserver.com., you can contact support to enable the redirection.
